FAQs

What should I expect during my first massage?

When you show up for your massage we will go over your client intake form to cover any medical concerns and talk about what you want worked on during the session. After the intake, your massage therapist will leave the room and give you a few minutes to get on the table underneath the sheets. Once the massage therapist returns, the part of your body that is being worked on will be uncovered while the rest of the body stays securely covered by the sheets. Your MT will check in throughout the massage to make sure the pressure is feeling comfortable. All personal areas will be covered throughout the massage and you will be asked for permission before working closely to any of those personal areas.

What type of massage should I get?

If this is your first massage we typically recommend getting a Swedish massage. This type of massage focuses on soft long strokes that relax the body. After you have received a few massages you might find that you would like a bit more pressure. Deep tissue massage is a much slower and firmer pressure that reaches the deeper layers of muscle and fascia. This style is great for people that have suffered from musculoskeletal injuries as long as can handle the more intense style of work. Hot stone massage is very beneficial for clients seeking relaxing or deep work. The heat is very soothing to tense muscles. The heat also allows us to work on deeper layers without as long of a warmup as a normal deep tissue massage would take.

Will I be sore after my massage?

If this is your first massage, or you haven’t been massaged for a while, you might end up a little sore the next day. To help lessen the severity of the soreness, we recommend drinking lots of water and going for a long walk the day of and after the massage.

How often should I get a massage?

This all depends on what your goals are with your massage. For most people, we recommend at least once a month. Talk with your massage therapist after the session about what they might recommend.

What if I’m not comfortable lying face down for the massage?

For anyone not wanting to lie face down, we can work on you while you are in a side-lying position that will be comfortably supported by a few pillows.

Do I have to be completely undressed for my massage?

This is something that is totally up to you. If you are more comfortable receiving a massage fully clothed or partially clothed then that is no problem and you will still receive the many benefits that massage has to offer. Undressing completely is also okay and you can feel safe knowing that any personal areas will be securely covered by the sheet throughout the massage.

Do I need to show up early for my appointment?

No need to show up early for your appointment. We do ask that you fill out your intake form beforehand to allow more flexibility. We make sure to leave plenty of time in between appointments so that we aren’t rushed with the intake process. You will also be able to take your time getting off the table and not feel rushed getting out the door.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash is king. Checks and Venmo are also great. Paypal and and all major credit cards are also accepted.
